Turbine Agitators

Turbine agitators include a wide range of general purpose mixing equipment, operating at reduced speeds. It has a tank that may be open or closed and multi-blade impeller. Turbine agitators are quite versatile and can be used on any shape tank, of any size, with other drives or impellers. The turbine agitator generally, is an open impeller that may be thought of as a centrifugal pump without housing.

The turbine agitator induces axial, radial as well as tangential components of velocity.

Axial Turbine The impeller here induces downward velocity profile. And is used for solid suspension, dry powder-liquid mixing, and mixing miscible liquids. The fluid is mixed by the top bottom agitation. Different agitator sizes and speeds can be used for low medium and vigorous agitation, for different viscosity of the ingredients.

Radial Turbine The turbine is used for immiscible liquids and gas dispersions. It is a little different from the axial turbine in terms that the ingredients are drawn from top and bottom as in axial and discharged radially to the tank wall. The flow is changed from axial to radial in the impeller and this high sheering action enables mass transfer. This kind of turbine requires more power.
