In this type of evaporator, heat is transferred by
conduction across the film of the liquid finely spread over the heating
surface. Since the liquid film is very thin, the temperature drop across
the film is very less. This thin liquid film can be generated by
different mechanisms according to which the process is named:
- Climbing film
- Falling-film
- Rotating surface
- Wiped film
- Deflecting liquid jet
