Sand Mixing, Foundry Machinery
Foundry sand is used in creating cores and molds
used in the casting of iron, steel, copper and aluminum products
including girders, copper pipes and aluminum supports. Foundry sand is
the second largest industrial use of.
The process of foundry sand mixing is often called mulling. The process
involves mixing of sand, water and binding ingredients to form tempered
ready-to-use molding or core sand. Foundry sand mixer is rather simple
equipment with a cylindrical container and mixing blade. The cylinder is
usually vertical type.
It needs an operator to monitor the process all the time even though
the process may be fully automated. First the material is weighed and
passed on to the machine hopper. Other materials like core oil and water
is automatically weighed and let in. The blades churn for the set
duration.
