Pulverizer Hammers
Hammer pulverizers have fixed or swinging steel
hammers used for coarse crushing. They are capable of considerable fine
milling as well. The hammers may be in vertical or horizontal rotor
configuration.
The material here is forced against a rotating hammer and then against
a break plate. The material is then passed over discharge sieve where
the finer material is passed out and the larger particles go back to the
hammering cycle. The particles are impacted throughout the process by
the hammer or the sides till the time it can pass through the sieve.
The drawbacks of a hammer pulverizer is that it cannot handle very
large particles and the output is uneven. The hammers tend to wear out
due to material abrasiveness.
