Ink Grinding
Ball and pebble mills are generally used for the
purpose of paint mixing. The pigment is dispersed in the liquid media
using the ball mills. The balls may be stainless steel or stone so that
they are non-reactive and inert. the size of the mill or the grinder
depends upon the volume of the batch. Often testing gauges are attached
to the grinders so as to check the quality of dispersion.
Media mills or impellers are also used for the purpose. Motion is
imparted to the media by tumbling, rotation, vibration or using the
rods, tubes of agitators. The same process is involved in paint mixing.
