Grinding Pans
Grinding pans form one of the most ancient forms of
mining machinery for grinding. They are used for sand grinding, mineral
grinding and other similar grinding processes. They were also used to
grind out impurities and they may vary in design but work on the same
principle are used for batch grinding process.
Usually the pan is circular and set at an angle. It has a heavy ball
inside and a spindle to let the sand in. As the pan rotates the heavy
ball inside it near the bottom grinds the material to very fine powder.
The earliest grinding pans and the bolls were of stone. Latter forms
also use Iron and steel.
