Distillation Equipment
The components of distillation columns have a
specific function and each component is optimized in shape and style to
perform their role in the process. A typical distillation plant has the
following components: Vertical shell/ column - separation of the liquid components takes place here. It holds the distillation column, column internals, re boiler and the reflux drum. Column Internals - plates & trays of column internals enhance component separations. Re boiler - it is the boiler that provides the necessary boiling for vaporization. It needs a separate heat source. The vapor are introduced to the column from the bottom. Condenser - condenses the vapor leaving the column. It is generally connected to the top of the column with some kind of heat exchange mechanism. Reflux drum - it holds the condensed vapor. Chemical
