Coal & Coke Pulverizers
 |
Coal is obtained by mining and needs to be milled
and ground for bringing it to usable form. In the first stage hammer
mills and crushers are used to down size the rocks. The second stage
grinding is done mainly by the roll crushers and lately cone crushers.
Roll Crushers - They are compression type crushers and are easy
to maintain. It has two rollers rotating about a shaft, towards the gap
between the rolls. This gap between the rolls determines the size of the
final product. The ungrounded particles can be about four times the size
of the gap. Coal is drawn in the gap by the rotation of the rolls and
the friction with it. The rolls may have teeth on the surface to improve
the quality.
Cone Crushers - Gyratory cone crusher is now more commonly used
for coke and coal pulverizing. The size depends upon the size of the
inlet and the size of the raw product. It has a central vertical spindle
that is free to rotate about its axis. Coal is crushed between the
spindle the fixed head.
