Chemical Dryers

Chemical dryers or sample dryers are used to remove moisture from the chemicals and chemical samples in labs and pharmaceutical manufacturing units. A variety of techniques are used for the purpose depending upon the chemical and the final state in which it is required. Techniques like including freeze-drying, spray drying, evaporation, desiccation, vacuum drying and sample concentration are quite commonly used.

Freeze drying, or lyophilization is used for the preservation of heat sensitive products. The temperature is lowered and excess moisture is vacuumed away.

Spray drying is one of the commonest processes of chemical drying. It consist of a feed pump, atomizer, air heater, air disperser, drying chamber, and systems for exhaust air cleaning and powder recovery. Their application is wide ranging from research and pharmaceutical testing applications to industrial applications of pharmaceuticals, dairy industry and mining industry.

Evaporators utilize mechanically created vortex action that forces the liquid outwards increasing the surface area for effective evaporation and recovery.

Desiccant dryer provides safety against dust and moisture contamination. They used desiccants like silica gel for the purpose and are most suitable for temperature sensitive products.

These dryers vary in capacity as per the implementation. They may be smaller sized for laboratory or sampling applications and large sized for industrial applications.
