Cement is a powdered mixture of inorganic compounds
(mostly calcium silicates and calcium aluminates). In presence of water
is binds together the particles to produce hard concrete. Pulverizing is
required to finely grind the raw materials and then to grind the clinker
to get the cement.
Process
- First the raw materials are quarried using blasting and drilling.
And sent to the crushers usually jaw crushers
- They are then ground in ball grinder or roller grinder to form a
fine powder of the raw material
- The homogenized fine powder is then converted to clinker by
passing through a rotary klin and clinker cooler
- Cement is finally produced by grinding clinker with gypsum to a
fine powder. Grinding is normally carried out in tube mills, roller
press or roller mills
